I started a sort of 'art book' thing on my computer using the program Bamboo Paper. This greets you on the first page. Isn't that so nice??
I have a love-hate relationship with this program, I love the way it feels to draw with it, sooo smooth. The way it organizes things is neat, since it uses a journal format and I find that simpler than holding onto a bunch of files myself, plus it keeps me from deleting something I may not be happy with.. most of the time. Its pretty good for just doodles.
Unfortunately that's pretty much all I like... there's no layers, no blending, there's a limited color palette (there isn't a Dietrich color or even a pink) which means that you have to rely on mixing the colors with the set opacity and hope for the best. There's a set eraser size which makes it hard to erase a foundation sketch which makes things look really messy, etc... then they want you to pay for more features I believe? Which I think is just a teensy bit ridiculous because this is from the same company that sells $80-$3,000 drawing tablets. The first time I used it, it was a free download bundled with an update to my old drawing tablet's software drivers, and I thought it was nice for doodles or maybe taking notes or something? I can't see it being used outside of that.
To be honest it'd probably pair great with the new pen for the iPad or that phone that has a stylus, when it isn't hot I like to walk around and jot down ideas and it'd be easier than having to carry around a tiny notebook and pencil.
